Christian created the illustration in collaboration with Cue as part of a brand identity and packaging project. The illustration is prominently featured on the neck wrap of the new 70 proof core bottle and secondary packaging, and has become a featured element of the refreshed brand.
The illustration was commissioned to capture the vibe and energy of New Orleans, the original birthplace of Southern Comfort.
Because New Orleans is composed of so many influences, the illustration was approached in a similar way, conveying the vibe of the city by use of an eclectic mix of images. Collectively, the illustration provides combinations of imagery which suggest a story about the city that looks beyond an often too narrow cliché. It’s relateable to the experience of the city, or anywhere the spirit of New Orleans lives.
The illustration was also recently selected for inclusion in the American Illustration annual, as one of 388 finalists from over 8,000 entries.
